welcome-quotes-hello-1

My name is Kim Wahl and this is my blog. I wouldn’t actually call myself a writer. But I am a talker. Ask anyone who knows me; since childhood I’ve never had a shortage of words. I even talked in my sleep. So I don’t really look at blogging as writing but more like electronic talking, which is right up my alley.

And generally I love to talk about Jesus. So that’s what this blog will be about – Jesus. I want to talk about living the authentic life of a Jesus follower. I want to talk about living with Him as the center of my existence. About living a life that looks more like Him and less like Kim.

I want to talk about connecting with God as my loving Abba who adores me as His baby girl. About crawling up in His lap to hear the sweet words He would whisper to my soul.

I want to talk about the struggle of surrender and submission. I want to talk about putting my life in His hands in absolute trust. I want to talk about the difficulties of faith when nothing makes sense.

I want to talk about the process. About enjoying the process. About not rushing the process. About embracing the process.

And as we talk, I’m sure the main characters of my life will emerge. So here’s the scoop on them. I’ve been married to the love of my life, Bill, for 30 years. He and I pastor at the most amazing church in the world, The River Church in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. We have three wonderful children, Gabrielle, Danielle and Stefan. Gabrielle is married to Scott and they have given us our first grandchild, Josiah. Danielle is married to Dylan and they have given us Judah. I’m sure you’ll hear more about them as we chat.

As for me: I’m from Louisiana and have a deep appreciation for fried okra and beignets. I love to read. And I’m a communicator; I love to teach Biblical truths and principles for practical everyday living. I teach regularly at The River on both Sundays and during the week, and guest speak at other events as well. So this talking thing does come in handy.

If you’d like to join the conversation, please leave a comment after the blog! I look forward to visiting with you.

  2. Kim it has been a joy to watch you live a transparent, honest christian life in the short period that we got close. I see this new adventure as a natural development and more so as God using you in the way He has planned. I have often wondered could I have been one of those experiments where God was showing you His plans? Some of those discussions we had in the kitchen in New Mexico and on trips to Walmart and in the dorm have stuck with me and sent me digging in the Word. Thank you Lord for making Kim a talker as a child and an electronic one as an adult! Love you Kim.

  7. Kim, I am becoming more like Christ because you are one of the GREATEST COMMUNICATORS EVER. Just as Jesus taught his disciples using examples of their everyday lives to teach them spiritual principles……you do the same. 8. well, hmm, my first time on a blog. I am not a real big talker(at least, not til I get to know someone). Then you can’t shut me up. Kim, you and your family have been God sent without a doubt. I personally have grown and seen changes in myself as I hear the word from my leaders. I seek God I ask and I always get the answers, it seems that wherever I am in my walk or whatever corrections I need the words you speak always line up to what I need. I am honored to be back at the River and under your leadership. Thank you JESUS for directing my steps. love you Pastor Kim.

  9. Can’t wait to read more about your experiences with Jesus. There is not a more exciting topic than Him. Looking forward to learning from you.

  11. Dear Kim, just wanted to share a thought I discovered this afternoon. Your teaching on the full armor of God has resonated through my life. It hit me today about how the shield was often soaked in water to deflect firey arrows, the water represented Holy Spirit. So now whenever doubts & fear come I just command SHIELDS UP. Thank you for your heart for the Lord. Love, jeannette

  12. Thank you Kim for you undying LOVE for GOD and His word. Ever since you took a stand for the truth against you school teacher in the 5th of 6th grade and caused some concerns at home, you have never backed away from speaking your mind. It is good that your mind is controlled by the Holy Spirit!
We are so proud of how you are allowing The Spirit guide you.
Thank you for you obedience. We love you. Remember to ‘train up a child the way he should go, and when he is OLD he will not depart from it’. I love you and Bill..

Thanks Dad. I come by it honest. And you’re right – if this wasn’t Holy Spirit controlled – it would be a mess. Took me awhile to learn that….and some days it’s still a challenge. Love you too!

  13. Kim Wahl you have been such a blessing in my life! I continuously learn from you and draw strength from you so much more than you realize! I so appreciate your honesty and your ability to look at yourself so truthfully. I thank you for all that you have done for our family. Thank you to both you and Bill.

  15. What to post? I guess that this last year has undoubtly been the best year of my life. I’ve always known that God loves me but have never had it explained the way you did. Individually, tailored just for me. You see Kim, that changed my life. Forever. Not only do I talk to God, but now I know I get to talk to him like he’s sitting across from me like a best friend or a parent. BUT waaaay better. You are living out your purpose and I know this because you have changed my relationship with my Father. Thank you.

You have a true gift… Something God has instilled in you and because of it, you are changing lives, bringing people closer to our Heavenly Father. I love to listen, learn, and be inspired by you. Your words of wisdom touch my heart and make me want to be a better person. You are a blessing to me and so many others and I am so glad Abba connected us. Love you sister.

  17. Okay this is bugging me. What is beignets?
There are some things from the south that are just not right. Okra is one of them.
However the very best thing to come out of the south is my Pastors Bill and Kim Wahl. There are a few of us that spent years praying for Bill to bring your southern bell backside up her with your family. Not knowing it was your family that we were praying for. Quickly after I met you and Bill I knew where ever you guys were going to hang your hat is where I was going to be.
Our Father is so amazing. I am blown away by the gift He has given us in you! We are truely blessed!

  19. I find a renewed strength and inner peace when I listen to you preach the word and when I read your blog. Your are beautiful, wonderfully anointed, and have such a way with words that I am instantly drawn in and I always take something away from your words that I use every day. You have changed my way of thinking, the way I pray and the way I love and shine His light unto others. I have recently taken a small hiatus from attending the church in person due to medical issues but I don’t ever miss watching online and reading this blog. You amaze me Kim and I am so glad Abba connected us. Because of you, I am a better person, friend, daughter of the King. You are a blessing Kim and I love the way Abba is using you to help others. You have such a gift and I am so glad to have you in my life. Can’t wait to see you soon and give you a great big hug.

  22. Kim. I’m reading this with tears running down my cheeks. I have always considered myself as a person of faith, but the Sunday morning that I sat in church and watched Mary painting an angel my life turned. I don’t remember any of Pastor Bill’s message that day because it seemed like the angel was talking to me. I know paintings can’t communicate, but I also know that God can communicate through anything or anyone – he has his ways of reaching people. I finally began to understand that the answers I was searching for were there inside me all the time. I just had to release them. It was easy for me to love God but I wasn’t sure God loved me. Obviously I wasn’t totally trusting him. When I analyzed my life I found the many blessings I had received which I really hadn’t identified as such. I brought the angel home with me and she is a daily reminder to “Let go and let God” I know your blog is helping so many people unleash their faith also. When I turn on my computer each morning I look for your message – it always gets my day off to a good start as the follow up to my morning prayers. May God continue to bless you (and Pastor Bill) and the wonderful love that you share. (some day I would like to share with you the story of how my Granddaughter (Mikki) came to The River) much love, Nira

      Nira,
Thank you for sharing your story. I’m always so amazed to hear how Abba captures our attention and shows us things. And I love the Truth He showed you – because He lives in you, you don’t need to search anywhere else. You simply have to look at Him and listen to Him. So beautiful <3

  23. I get all kinds of flack about my (un)belief in halloween being evil. I have heard time and time again how “it’s not real” and “you’re too judgmental.” Thank you for this. You can’t argue with Biblical evidence to back up your truth. God Bless You Kim and THANKS!!

Thanks for stopping by Jimmie! I appreciate your feedback. One of the ploys of the enemy is to fool us into thinking he’s not real or he’s not as terrible as we make it sound. So while I never want to make him my focus, I don’t want to be ignorant or un/mis-informed about his intentions. And I think Halloween is one of the tools he used to accomplish that.

  24. Mary…I searched out your blog because I have been hearing such wonderful things about you and your leadership at The River. (Although deep in my heart it will always be Riverside Tabernacle…the place Brother King took me under his wing and taught me what it really meant to live a life fully Spirit-Filled and in love with God.)
My life has brought me to Florida, but I ache to be at The River where God’s love has blossomed again, and He is moving in such a powerful way.
I am so looking forward to experiencing your ministry for myself; to feed on what God gives you to share. God bless you and Bill mightily as you follow His leading and be a part of His great Outpouring in these last days.
